THE ROLE
The Managing Director of Program Implementation reports to the President and is a member of the Leadership Team. In this role, you will set the vision for our instructional services with schools, districts, and state education agencies, with a focus on refining our service models, scaling our work, and leading high-performing project teams. This role requires a combination of strategy, innovation, leading others, and executive-level project management. You will work directly with our partners as well as lead and coach full-time staff members and consultants to deliver high-impact training and implementation services to district and state partners.

A successful candidate will have experience serving on a leadership team as well as a demonstrated track record for developing service models and leading projects for an array of education system stakeholders. The candidate will be adept at leading, growing, and managing teams and developing strong service lines from vision through implementation in K-12 education systems. This position can be based from a home office anywhere in the U.S. Depending on location, expected travel time is 15-25%. RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery (60%)
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with partners, including state, district, and school leaders  
  • Lead strategic contracts with states and districts that improve instruction in core academic subjects and support student growth
  • Manage each project’s unique scopes of service, including making adjustments to project plans as needed
  • Manage and coach staff to create project plans characterized by actionable strategic timelines and manage work towards completing key benchmarks
  • Support school, district, and state leaders in managing change and building continuous improvement systems to adjust course where needed
  • Facilitate adult learning experiences for school, district, and state leaders
Strategy and Service Development (25%)
  • Own SchoolKit’s vision and service models for implementing high-quality instructional materials, including but not limited to, refining and articulating our program offerings for schools, districts, states, and regional service centers
  • Collaborate with teammates to create tools, techniques, and training to develop our internal capacity to deliver these services with integrity to our partners 
  • Identify common instructional and leadership challenges across systems; propose and design new services to address these needs  
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with state and system leaders to expand our network and grow our work
  • Develop strategies that enable efficient scaling of SchoolKit’s service offerings
  • Contribute to our business development strategy for new and existing partners and collaborate with the President to grow and deepen existing relationships
Leadership and Management (15%) 
  • Serve on the Leadership Team that is responsible for executive leadership of the organization 
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team and SchoolKit staff to create and implement SchoolKit’s strategic plans
  • Oversee, coach, and manage the work of staff and contractors with a focus on delivering services, supporting individual employee growth, and fostering collaboration among the team 

EXPERIENCE
  • At least 15 years of experience in education sector with at least 5 years of this experience in an organization that provides services to schools, districts, and/or states.
  • A successful track record of implementing teaching and learning initiatives in partnership with school system leaders, school leaders, and teachers
  • Deep experience with effective adoption and implementation of high-quality instructional materials and change management related to this work
  • Knowledge of the Common Core shifts and standards in ELA and Math as well as Next Generation assessments such as PARCC
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, and diversity in internal organizational work, managing teams, and service delivery
  • A comprehensive understanding of how equitable teaching and learning can be brought to life by leaders and teachers and how to coach others to successfully realize this work.
  • Knowledge of best practices for leading, managing, and coaching adults
  • Foundational knowledge of best practices in teaching, learning, and leading in K-12 schools
  • A bachelor’s degree. Masters degree in education or related field preferred
